2020 is a big year for us here at BIO Girls! We just had our 1,000th 2020 participant register in February! In 2019, we had 1,054 participants total! Our impact is growing and we are always looking one, two, even three steps ahead! As spring of 2020 approaches, we are already looking forward to 2021 and we are excited to announce:

 
 

We are hiring a Director of Development!

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of BIO Girls’ fundraising including, the major gifts program, planned giving, special events, grant programs and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must embrace the mission of BIO Girls.

  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.

  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques.

  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.

  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.

  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.

  • Be organized and exhibit follow-through on tasks and goals.

  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

  • A bachelor’s degree.

  • 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising and/or sales.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.

  • Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.

  • Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

  • Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.

  • Coordinate fundraising special events – Giving Hearts Day, the annual Gala, the Find Your Kind 5K race, special events and more.

  • Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives

  • Oversee prospective donor research.

  • Work closely with BIO Girls Executive Director, and Board of Directors and the development committee.

  • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about BIO Girls with the community.

  • Chair the Board Development Committee meetings.

  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.

  • Supervise and collaborate with fundraising volunteers.

  • Oversee creation of materials to support fundraising activities.

  • Develop and maintain gift recognition programs.

  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

  • Perform other related duties as requested.

  • Travel and evening/weekend responsibilities required occasionally.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Competitive/commensurate with experience and other qualifications.

Job Type: Full-time

Experience:

  • Senior leadership: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Management: 2 years (Preferred)

  • Fundraising or sales: 4 years (Preferred)
