How many sessions are in BIO Teens?

  • Each module of the teen program includes 5 sessions. The modules are offered a la carte, meaning individuals can select to participate in any combination of the modules.

Is the structure of the BIO Teens program the same as the traditional BIO Girls program?

  • While there are some commonalities between the two programs, BIO Teens is a unique program developed for this demographic.

    • Sessions: Each session will consist of a combination of interactive lessons, group discussion, group activities, skill-development activities and hands-on projects. Each participant will build a vision board throughout the program that they can bring home at the end of the module.

    • Physical Activity: The BIO Teens program will incorporate mindfulness in the form of meditation and yoga into each session.

Is there exercise involved?

  • The BIO Teens program will incorporate mindfulness in the form of meditation and yoga into each session. There will not be exercise in the form of running or cross-training like in the traditional BIO Girls program.

How many participants will be in each program?

  • 16 participants. The intent is to keep the numbers small to encourage engagement, connection and a sense of belonging. Based on the outcomes of the pilot, this number may vary when the program is launched.

What is the participant age range for BIO Teens?

  • Based on the outcomes of our pilot, the anticipated age range will be 6th-11th grade.

Who will facilitate the program?

  • The BIO Teens program will be facilitated by professionals. Due to the content and sensitive discussion that may occur, professionals with mental health training are required. Learn more about facilitating.

Are there volunteer opportunities for the BIO Teens program?

  • Unlike the BIO Girls program, volunteers apart from the facilitator will not be included.

Can I bring the BIO Teens program to my community?

  • BIO Girls is proactively looking to partner with mental health professionals in communities across the state of ND. If you are a mental health professional in ND, MN, IA or SD and are interested in leading BIO Teens, please complete the facilitator interest form.

What is the cost to participate?

  • There is a registration fee to cover program development, research, and supply costs. A scholarship application is available for those experiencing financial need.
