Meet Heather Johnson!

Heather is one of our Site Directors at our BIO Girls site at Hope Church in Grand Forks. Heather has such a passion for each area of BIO Girls. That passion has overflowed into her community. Heather has a desire to start the tough conversations surrounding health and mental wellness. She is innovative and confident. We are so grateful for all she does for the BIO Girls mission.

“Heather is so supportive and is so good at making BIO Girls connections, whether it is connecting BIO Girls to others or connecting others to BIO Girls. Heather and the Site Director, Beth, are a great team going above and beyond all the time, we are so grateful for their work.”

— Angie Will, BIO Girls Programming Team

We asked Heather a few questions about her involvement with BIO Girls:

What do you do for work?

“I am a Health and Fitness Coach.”

What drew you to become involved with BIO Girls?

“My love for mentoring and educating young girls, scripture that reinforces Truth and worthiness, and helping raise the self-esteem of young girls in Grand Forks.”

Do you have any hidden talents?

“I’m a social media expert!”

Name one-way BIO Girls has impacted you personally?

“I was the devotional girl last season. Starting with Truth and lessons that weren’t only for the girls but for me too proved to be so impactful.”

What do you think girls would be missing without BIO Girls?

“They would be missing out on like-minded girls who care about their self-worth, belonging, and trying something new like preparing for a race with others their age. It’s so important for these girls to be mentored by other adults outside of their parents.”

What is one piece of advice you would tell your younger self?

“Stop being a people pleaser. People will judge you no matter what so you might as well give them something to judge.”

Why is mentorship important?

“80% of our thoughts are negative and our thoughts control everything in our lives. Through mentorship, I’ve learned how to recognize that and how to begin changing my thoughts.”

Heather —

The BIO Girls team, the participants you have made an impact on, and the Grand Forks community sincerely thank you.
