Volunteer Highlight — Sara Lau

Meet sara lau!

Sara Lau has been a Site Director at Moorhead Trinity, Mentor at EHP, Mentor at Prairie Heights and a Board Member from 2017-2021. We are so inspired by Sara’s time that she has put in to change young girl’s lives.

Sara– thank you! Our team, the girls you have made an impact on, and the Fargo and Moorhead communities sincerely thank you.

  • What is your favorite lesson or mantra?

    • That everyone is uniquely beautiful and shouldn't feel pressure to act/look/behave a certain way because that's what "everyone else is doing".

  • Why do you love volunteering for BIO Girls?

    • Confidence in young girls is such a passion of mine. It is something I never had growing up, but desperately wanted. I also have a daughter and hope she can grow up loving herself more (and much earlier) than I did.

  • Do you have an impactful story to share from your volunteer experience?

    • I think the biggest takeaway I had being involved with the girls is the level of conversation they could have at such a young age. Kids take in so much more information these days that conversations like we have in BIO Girls needs to happen sooner. They understand the topics and lessons, they understand implications of their actions, and they understand who they surround themselves with makes a big difference. They may not have the ability to always show up the way we want them to, but they understand it.
