Meet Taby Widner

Taby is our Site Director at our BIO Girls site in Marshall Co West. Taby is a strong leader with a drive to help young girls build their confidence. She is passionate, grounded, and enthusiastic at her site. We are so grateful for all she does for the BIO Girls mission.

“Taby and Nikki are another one of our great teams. They are fun to work with and go through the BIO Girls to-do list very smoothly. They have done a great job with community awareness and gaining the support of the community, which also makes for a smooth and successful program!”

— Angie Will, BIO Girls Programming Team

We asked Taby a few questions about her involvement with BIO Girls:

What do you do for work?

“I am a Business Development Director for TruStone Wealth Management.”

Do you have a vivid memory or story that stands out to you from your time volunteering?

“While out doing a workout, one of the BIO Girls got very emotional and started to cry, not a sobbing cry just tears pouring down. Her small group mentor was not nearby and I didn’t know her situation. I offered to walk back to our meeting location with her but she just shook her head that she wanted to keep going on the path. She wasn’t quite ready to open up to me and that was okay. I just walked alongside her in silence and sometimes talked to her about how emotions get so big sometimes that they come out in unexpected times and that isn’t a bad thing. When thinking back to that memory, it reminds me that I don’t always have the “right words to say” or have to “figure out the situation,” sometimes I just need to walk alongside those who are struggling so they know that someone cares.”

Name one-way BIO Girls has impacted you personally?

“The lessons are so parallel to adult struggles. Kids’ struggles aren’t just little struggles.”

In one sentence, how do you summarize what BIO Girls provides participants?

“A safe place to be able to relate to all girls in different aspects of life and issues they are going through at the moment with guidance from an appropriate adult.”

What do you think girls would be missing without BIO Girls?
”Knowing that their value is not based on their circumstances or what situations they have endured.”

What is one piece of advice you would tell your younger self?

“Jesus loves you for where you’re at and not who you are going to be.” — Matt Chandler
