Find Your Kind, wherever you're at.
On May 16th, 2020, BIO Girls planned to host our inaugural 5K here in Fargo, ND: Find Your Kind 5K. Find Your Kind was going to be a celebration of girls finding their confidence, setting big goals and reaching them. A celebration of community. A day to spread kindness.
In April we pivoted as did so many other organizations. We would host our inaugural 5K as a virtual race... in one month.
Our hope was to provide closure to our participants who had to finish their seasons virtually and give them a boost of energy to accomplish their goal of 3.1 miles in their neck of the woods.
Our hope spiraled into numbers that our team of five never thought was possible.
690 BIO Girls registered
409 community members registered
12 states were represented
1,099 total participants
So many people selflessly signed up to run for a cause: BIO Girls, parents, community members, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and family from different cities… we are STILL pinching ourselves.
Pictures are our favorite — we made a Facebook photo album where you can check out the photos we complied from our virtual race day here! There were so many photos and videos shared that it was difficult to keep up… the BEST problem.
