Meet Margi Yanish!

Margi is the Site Director at BIO Girls in Devils Lake, ND.

Margi is a passionate and enthusiastic leader with a strong commitment to serving others in her community. She is patient, kind, and caring with all of the girls at her site. We are so grateful for everything she does for the BIO Girls Mission.

We asked Margi a few questions about her involvement with BIO Girls:

What do you do for work?

“I am an Assistant Religion Ed Director - St. Josephs”

Do you have a vivid memory or story that stands out to you from your time volunteering?

“One girl who was a handful at the beginning; didn’t want to do the lesson; how do we get her to participate. Wasn’t into sitting and more learning. We just worked with her to help her succeed; made some modifications and gave her some more 1 on 1 time. By the end of the season she was on fire. During the run, was eager to participate and one of the quicker. Was more engaged in the lessons by the end of the season. She would totally get the lesson and light up. We didn’t think she was paying attention but she was one who could recite all the mantras at the end. She needed extra love and positive reinforcement in life.”

What was you favorite part about being a Site Director?

“I loved building the connections with the girls; to see them in the community and see their faces light up. Since being new to town this was important to me.”

Why do you volunteer with BIO Girls?

“It’s so important to give tools to girls to build confidence and self-esteem. The program is so well laid out and has such valuable lessons and builds self-esteem.”

Favorite Mantra?
”Serving Others Feels Good - we talked about this a lot throughout the season, not just that one lesson. “

Margi —
