Meet Nicki Carlson
BIO Girls Volunteer in Win-E-Mac, Minnesota
How blessed are we to have an incredibly community of volunteers at our Win-E-Mac program! Today, we are recognizing 4th year volunteer mentor, Nicki Carlson. Nicki provides us with some big heart and passion for the program.
“Young girls need to be reminded of the amazing skills and abilities they possess. I want to help empower these girls to be the leaders they were born to be by encouraging them to be their own individual person, to believe in themselves, and to stand up for what is right. I want these girls to make connections with people they can trust and confide in.”
Nicki embodies the mission of building a generation of confident girls. Being that light and source for young girls in her community is a powerful tool. But as many of us know, it’s not just the girls who walk away with lessons learned but the mentors themselves.
“The lessons we have each week are not only beneficial for the girls participating but also good for me as a Mentor. Little reminders to believe in myself and my strengths.”
As a 4th year mentor, Nicki knows how hard it is for everyone to work towards that 5K finale goal. It’s no small feat but it leaves a big impact on everyone’s hearts!
“Each of our finale events have left a lasting impact on me. The girls work so hard through the season growing, learning, stepping outside of their comfort area, and training and the support they show each other during the finale event (and through the season) is something that is hard to explain. As a Mentor, it is emotional to watch these girls and is truly something special to experience and be part of. ”
Nicki, we are so very thankful the heart and soul you give to BIO Girls in your community. You are a shining example of your favorite manta, “YOU ARE ENOUGH!” just the way you are.
