Volunteer Highlight — Renae McGauvran
Meet Renae McGauvran
BIO Girls Volunteer in Park River, ND
We're thrilled to highlight Renae McGauvran, who is entering her fourth year volunteering with BIO Girls in Park River, ND! As both a mentor and site director, Renae brings an incredible mix of warmth, strength, and purpose to everything she does — and her impact on the girls in her community continues to grow with each season.
For Renae, volunteering with BIO Girls is deeply aligned with her values. She believes in the power of a growth mindset and lifting up other women and girls, something she strives to model in her everyday life.
“I volunteer with BIO Girls because I think that my values mirror the values of the program. I do my best to have a growth mindset and build up other women and girls as best as I can. When you believe in something so wholeheartedly you want to support it in any way you can, in this season of life that looks like my volunteer work with BIO Girls!”
Renae holds two powerful mantras close to her heart:
“Inhale Love, Exhale Gratitude” and “I Am BIO.”
“Each week those mantras are reminders and examples for how I want to live and how I can model that mantra to our BIO Girls. “Inhale love, exhale gratitude” reminds me to soak in all the love that has gotten me to any given moment, and exhale my thanks to God for getting me there. “I am BIO” is a powerful reminder that I’m not perfect or expected to be a certain way, and beautiful on the inside and on the outside.”
A Memorable Impact?
Volunteering with BIO Girls has had a ripple effect beyond the weekly sessions. Renae shares that the program has strengthened her ties to the Park River community — and deepened her faith.
“I think being involved with this program has deepened my connections and appreciation for the local businesses and individuals that have graciously donated their time and money to support this program here in Park River. Mentoring and leading as the site director have also helped me to personally reflect and grow stronger in my faith.”
One of Renae’s favorite moments? Seeing the pride on each girl's face after they complete the season-ending 5K.
“The highlight of each season is how PROUD the girls are of themselves after finishing the 5k and crushing that goal. As a runner myself, I know the deep satisfaction of crossing that finish line!”
Growing up in a small town not far from Park River, Renae often thinks about how much she would have cherished a program like BIO Girls as a child. That reflection fuels her passion to make the experience meaningful for today’s girls.
“I know how much I would have loved a program like this when I was in elementary school. Reflecting on my upbringing and how I’ve gotten to this point I can’t help but be incredibly grateful to the amazing women that gave me the confidence to lead and inspire others. Special thanks goes to my mom, Lynn McGauvran, for being Beautiful, Inside and Out.”
Thank you, Renae, for everything you do to inspire, uplift, and empower the next generation. Your leadership is helping girls in Park River grow into confident, strong young women — and we couldn’t be more grateful!
thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
