Missy Heilman

Founder & CEO

Missy Heilman is the founder and CEO of BIO Girls, a nonprofit she launched in 2013. With a background in business management and marketing, she spent 15 years in the marketing technology industry as a consultant and Chief Marketing Officer before leading BIO Girls full-time in 2018. Under her leadership, the organization has grown from a small local program to a multi-state nonprofit serving thousands of girls annually, with demonstrated improvements in participants’ confidence, mental wellness, and social-emotional skills. Today, BIO Girls is strategically focused on expanding access, strengthening outcomes, and building sustainable community partnerships.

A mom to three daughters and wife to her husband, Tom, Missy enjoys an active lifestyle that includes traveling, mountain biking, running, and competing in Ironman triathlons. She is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, where she competed in track and field and earned degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition, and later earned her MBA from North Dakota State University as an NCAA postgraduate scholarship recipient. She is active in her community and a lifelong fan of track and field.
