BIO Girls Extends Impact through Partnerships

Self-esteem building program partners with existing youth programs to reach girls where they are at.

July 7, 2021

BIO Girls, a local non-profit offering self-esteem building programming for adolescent girls, announces partnerships with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley and Jasmin Child Care and Preschool to offer programming to youth the two respective organizations serve.

The 12-session BIO Girls program is proven to increase the self-esteem of participants through empowerment of self and service to others. BIO Girls reaches thousands of girls annually across the upper Midwest, including 1 in 25 girls in the state of ND. To increase its reach, BIO Girls is building out a network of partnerships with organizations that already provide youth programming to remove potential logistical barriers to participation such as lack of transportation or scheduling issues.

"While BIO Girls has continued to reach and impact a growing number of girls each year, we understand the potential barriers that may prohibit participation. As we look to increase our impact over the next 3 years to reach 1 in 6 girls in North Dakota, developing partnerships with other youth programming organizations is a critical piece to scaling our impact,"
Missy Heilman, BIO Girls Executive Director and Founder.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley is to provide a safe, caring and fun environment for kids to learn, grow and prepare for a bright future.

“We’re thrilled to partner with BIO Girls to provide our youth with yet another quality programming experience. Partnerships like these make a difference in kids’ lives even beyond the Club,"
Robin Nelson, Boys & Girls Clubs of the RRV CEO.

Jasmin Child Care and Preschool envisions a welcoming, inclusive and strong holistic community in which all children reach their full potential without barriers. As a multicultural child care center, Jasmin provides care for children ages 6 weeks - 12 years.

"We are partnering this summer with BIO Girls to help young girls in the community practice their leadership skills in a safe place through setting goals and decision making. By becoming confident they face the world and become leaders,"
Rhoda Elmi, Director of Jasmin Child Care and Preschool.

Programming for Boys & Girls Clubs and Jasmin Child Care and Preschool youth will occur during the summer of 2021 in Fargo, ND. BIO Girls will continue to explore expanded and additional partnerships to further increase the number of participants served.
