BIO Girls Service Project - Fergus Falls
BIO Girls Service Project Takes Root in Fergus Falls
The Fergus Falls community hosts two BIO Girls programs each year. Together, they partner with Lake Region Takes Root to help the community garden grow.
Lake Region Takes Root has been on a nutrition mission since 2013! In order to achieve optimal health, people need access to fresh produce and the garden solves just that. On average, over 12,000 pounds of produce are provided by this community garden each year and BIO Girls participants get to be a special part of it.
Spring is a time for planting! BIO Girls who participate in the spring running program in Fergus Falls serve their community by planting produce for the Lake Region Takes Root Community Garden.
By the time the fall BIO Girls cross training site is ready for their service project, so is the harvest! The next group gets to reap the benefits of what the spring participants sowed.
Each BIO Girls location dedicates one of their season sessions to service in their community. To see how Fergus Falls partners together to create this full circle project is one of a kind!
We are so proud of the BIO Girls participants - getting their hands dirty - and using their time to help with this nutrition mission.
