Meet Beth Bjerke!

Beth is our Site Director at our BIO Girls site in Grand Forks, ND at Hope Church. Beth is such a selfless mentor. She dedicates herself to living life making sure she leaves each place better than she found it. She isn’t afraid to seek after new passions and take on new adventures. We are so grateful for all she does for the BIO Girls mission.

“Beth is so organized and always on top of things! She and the Co-Director, Heather Johnson, work so well together, it’s fun to see how they make things come together to create excellence!”

— Angie Will, BIO Girls Programming Team

We asked Beth a few questions about her involvement with BIO Girls:

What do you do for work?

“I am the Associate Dean and Professor of Aviation at UND.”

How did your site come about?

“I remember running the 2018 Fargo Marathon and I kept seeing these girls in white shirts and pink socks, most of whom were passing me. I must have witnessed 100 BIO Girls running across the finish line. It made me curious so I began looking into what BIO Girls was and what it stood for. We were able to bring it to Grand Forks in 2020.”

Name one-way BIO Girls has impacted you personally?

“It has been a privilege giving back to the community and being a part of something bigger than myself. It’s fun to be able to see girls after the season doing so well.”

What is your favorite movie?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

What drew you to become involved with BIO Girls?

“I wanted my daughter to be a part of this amazing program as I knew she would learn a lot and grow as a result. The idea that we can work together to impact not just one, but 40 girls at most sites is truly a blessing!”

Do you have any hidden talents?
”I am really good at mapping out our running distances with signage and water breaks!”

What is one piece of advice you would tell your younger self?

“Explore and seek opportunities outside of your comfort zone.”

Beth —

The BIO Girls team, the participants you have made an impact on, and the Grand Forks community sincerely thank you.
