Meet Elle Wahl
BIO Girls Volunteer Mentor in Dilworth, Minnesota (and past participant!)
It’s wild to think that some of our past participants are now turning into beloved mentors within BIO Girls programming, passing on the support and love that they received when they were younger. That’s the case with four year mentor, Elle Wahl, from Dilworth, MN.
“I used to be in BIO girls when I was younger and I felt the impact so much I wanted to continue to share these important lessons with younger girls today.”
Because Elle is a still a student herself, she gets to see the impact of the program first hand with the girls in her school.
“I am in school with many of the participants and I have actively seen the girls finding someone to be kind towards, whether it’s inviting them to play or sit with them at lunch. It is amazing to see the impact that BIO girls makes not only on the participants but the people they surround themselves with.”
Elle and the Dilworth program has developed a great partnership with their local senior center. The service project they have done the last few years involves creating floral bouquets that the girls deliver to the residents.
“My favorite service project is making bouquets and running them to a near by nursing home. I love this service project because it’s a good way to show the girls how much of an impact it is to share even just the smallest amount of kindness.”
Elle’s experience with the program over the years has turned her into a true advocate for kindness.
“I love to share my experiences with BIO Girls to people all around me because I believe it is such a meaningful organization. BIO Girls teaches not only the participants but the volunteers also the fundamentals of being a kind person to all. Once you find the kindness in yourself you will be able to find the kindness all around you as well.”
